Davis Road Landfill Cell Expansion Works

Davis Road Landfill Cell Expansion Works

Project Name: Davis Road Landfill Cell Expansion Works

Location: Margaret River, West Australia

Client: Shire of Augusta Magaret River

Project Type: Earthworks

Leeuwin Civil won a competitive tender to perform works to extend the cell area and associated GCL lining for the Shire of Augusta Margaret River’s waste cell operations at the Davis Road Landfill.

Leeuwin Civil’s Project Team completed earthworks, followed by the installation of leachate pipework and a leachate manhole with a GCL liner, which was covered with 300mm of sand.

The Project Team used machine guidance control to accurately pinpoint where new works needed to tie into the existing clay liner under the current waste area and then worked inwards to find the edge of the existing clay liner by removing overburden as they progressed.

The use of Leeuwin Civil’s machine guidance equipment enables the Project Team to work to millimetre accuracy. This mitigated any unnecessary excavation works, resulting in time and cost savings to the Client.

Scope of Works:

  • earthworks;
  • installation of leachate pipework and manhole; and
  • guidance control system application.
